Overview

What is a VET mobility program in Germany?

A VET mobility program sends groups of vocational learners to Germany for short, supervised work placements in real German companies. Funded under Erasmus+ KA1 (KA121 and KA122 actions), it is a structured Praktikum — not a study trip. Programs typically run 2 to 4 weeks for short-term group flows, up to 3 months for individual placements, and 3–12 months under ErasmusPro. Each Learning Agreement is mapped to ECVET units and competences are referenced against ESCO occupation codes, with closure documented through Europass Mobility. Internships Germany acts as your intermediary in Germany, handling host sourcing, accommodation, on-site coordination and audit-ready documentation end-to-end.

How it's structured

Program structure at a glance

Most German VET cohorts share the same operational shape — short, group-based, sector-aligned to the German labour market.

Duration

2 to 4 weeks for short-term group mobility. Up to 3 months for individual placements; 3–12 months under ErasmusPro.

Format

Group mobility (5–60 learners) with a sending-school accompanying person, or individual flows for older or long-duration learners.

Sectors

Engineering & automotive, IT & software, hospitality & tourism, retail & business administration, healthcare-adjacent, logistics, renewable energy, and education.

Workload

30–35 hours per week in a real German host company, supervised by a named in-company tutor (Ausbilder) and tracked via attendance and weekly evaluations.

Recognition

Europass Mobility certificate, ECVET-aligned Learning Agreement and host evaluation — accepted in the Beneficiary Module.

Funding

Eligible for Erasmus+ KA121 (accredited) and KA122 (short-term) grants. We invoice the sending institution directly with a single line item.

What's included

Everything we take care of

Verified German host companies

Sourced from a 1,200+ host network across 20+ German cities, sector-matched to the ECVET Learning Agreement, with a named in-company tutor confirmed in writing before the flight.

Accommodation across Germany

Studentenwohnheime, shared WGs or vetted host families within 30–45 minutes of the host. Inspected against a fixed checklist (safety, internet, kitchen, bills included). Single rooms on request.

Insurance & compliance

Travel + medical + civil liability cover meeting Erasmus+ KA1 minimums (€30,000 medical, repatriation included). Policy certificates issued in the learner's name and shared with your coordinator pre-departure.

German language preparation

OLS-supplemented pre-departure module + 8–10h of on-arrival workplace-German coaching. Targeted at workplace vocabulary (workshop, retail floor, office) — not academic grammar.

Documentation pack

ECVET-aligned Learning Agreement, weekly attendance log, mid- and end-of-mobility evaluations co-signed by the host tutor, Europass Mobility and a Beneficiary Module-ready closure file.

Local coordinator + 24/7 line

One named coordinator per German city — not a call centre. 24/7 emergency line tested before each cohort lands. Daily check-ins for week 1, weekly thereafter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Pricing is per learner per week and depends on city, accommodation type and sector. After the kick-off call we return a per-learner breakdown that maps directly to Erasmus+ KA121/KA122 unit costs (individual support + organisational support), so your grant covers most or all of the package.
